The 2006 Easter Vigil was very special at St Thomas'. Five adults were Received into the Catholic Church and Confirmed in the Holy Spirit. The original Christian Baptism of each candidate was accepted, and they prepared through the Enquiry in the Faith programme. Part of the RCIA (Rite for the Christian Initiation of Adults) process, which distinguishes between those being initiated into the Church through Baptism, known as Catechumens, and those already Baptised, known as Candidates, is the selection of a sponsor. The sponsor is a confirmed member of the Catholic Church, who guides the candidate and accompanies them on their faith journey. The Enquiry in the Faith programme meant their sponsor and the candidate met with the Priest director each week for six months.
